Chilean Red Stag
« on: March 23, 2011, 12:15:54 PM »
Some of you may remember me posting pics of a nice red stag my buddy got last year in Chile.

Well, he's at it again. Got this one a couple days ago.

Awesome looking stag...
Is that a free range animal?

Very cool animal......

A question for your friend --- why Chile over New Zealand or other places to hunt Stag and the animals in the same family?  Just curious for future planning.  Chile is on my list, but so is New Zealand, and was thinking maybe Chile was less expensive, or bigger animals, different type of hunting, etc.  Just curious....

Neil, I'm sure most New Zealand Stage are high fenced, most in South America are free range from what I understand. Personally, they can keep the high fenced critters...

This is a free range stag.

He's been going down there as a fly fishing guide for about 20 years. Met a lot of locals, picked up sheds etc....
They are in the roar or rut right now.

It's more of a forest type "elk hunt" rather than an open country hunt, like Argentina's pampa.

Very nice. I was looking at doing a dove/duck/perdiz combo next year in Argentina. I am going to look at adding a Red Stag hunt too.
